Purple reminds me of just one thing. Cadbury chocolates. My personal antidote against all sorrows, my best companion in all happiness, my ‘must – have’ in my purse, in short my best friend! Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate has been a favorite in my family since my mother was a kid. When my mother was still in school an entire slab (bigger than what we get today) used to cost 25ps. 25 years later, the same slab with size considerably reduced costs Rs. 20. But the love remains intact. The prices can soar but the love my mom & I have for these chocolates isn’t going to go away anytime soon.
And other than this I am also reminded of these flowers which I had clicked almost a year back in Switzerland! 🙂

But the plural of ox becomes oxen, not oxes.
One fowl is a goose, but two are called geese,
Yet the plural of moose should never be meese.
You may find a lone mouse or a nest full of mice,
Yet the plural of house is houses, not hice.
Why shouldn’t the plural of pan be called pen?
If I speak of my foot and show you my feet,
And I give you a boot, would a pair be called beet?
If one is a tooth and a whole set are teeth,
Why shouldn’t the plural of booth be called beeth?
Yet hat in the plural would never be hose,
And the plural of cat is cats, not cose.
We speak of a brother and also of brethren,
But though we say mother, we never say methren.
Then the masculine pronouns are he, his and him,
But imagine the feminine: she, shis and shim!
There is no egg in eggplant nor ham in hamburger;
Neither apple nor pine in pineapple.
English muffins weren’t invented in England.
We find that quicksand can work slowly, boxing rings are square,
And a guinea pig is neither from Guinea nor is it a pig.
And why is it that writers write, but fingers don’t fing,
Grocers don’t groce and hammers don’t ham?
If you have a bunch of odds and ends and get rid of all but one of them,
What do you call it?
If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat?
In what other language do people recite at a play and play at a recital?
We have noses that run and feet that smell.
We park in a driveway and drive in a parkway.
And how can a slim chance and a fat chance be the same,
While a wise man and a wise guy are opposites?
In which your house can burn up as it burns down,
In which you fill in a form by filling it out,
And in which an alarm goes off by going on.
A 24 year old boy seeing out from the train’s window shouted,
“Dad, look the trees are going behind!” His dad smiled & a young couple sitting nearby looked at the 24 year old’s childish behavior with pity. Suddenly he exclaimed, “Dad look the clouds are running with us!” The couple couldn’t resist & said to the old man, “Why don’t you take your son to a good doctor?” The old man smiled & said, “I did & we are just coming back from the hospital. My son was blind since birth, he got his eyes today!”
Every single person on this planet has a story. Don’t judge people before you truly know them. The truth might surprise you…think before you say something!
100 reasons why Twilight sucks:
1. Bella is a perfect character (“Mary Sue”), which Meyer hides by calling her clumsy.
2. Being clumsy is not a flaw if Edward always catches her.
3. She can’t do anything without Edward.
4. And when he leaves she attempts to commit suicide.
5. Meyer is living out her own fantasies by writing about Bella, who is clearly herself.
6. The books aren’t well written, just because every other word is a fancy adjective doesn’t make it good writing.
7. All the rules Meyer sets for being a vampire are broken by the end of the series.
8. Not only that, she breaks rules set by more esteemed authors.
9. The world population will come to an end because all girls who read this book will think they are Bella and will wait for their Edward to come until they are old. And he’ll never come.
10. Bella almost dies fifty thousand times, but Edward always saves her. This is boring.
Shraavan is the fifth month in the Hindu calender. It is considered the most auspicious month in the year. It begins approximately in late July & ends by the third week of August. This year Shraavan began on 20th July. What I find best about this month is not the festivals or the numerous poojas which are offered to the Lords. Nature is at its glorious best in this season. Rains alternate with sunshine for the whole month. The trees look lush green & sparkle due to the rainwater in the sunlight. The sun isnt too harsh, its just enough to leave a pleasant chill in the air. All I can say is: there is something in the air. Something which cannot be put into words. I feel a joy from deep within. Maybe it has got to do something with the fact that my birthday falls in this month. Or maybe because Krishna’s birthday too is in Shravan & he is my most favourite God!!! There are rainbows in the sky, the birds are singing to their full glory, the animals are happy because of the abundant grass, people are joyous because of the string of festivals which begin with Shraavan. This is that time of the year when you can just feel the magic!
Kusumaagraj has written a beautiful poem for this month which describes the beauty of its days in greater details.

The poem in English:
Shraavan, the month which gives joy,the month in which sunshine plays hide – n – seek with the rains. In the skies is the rainbow which seems like a beautiful necklace which the sky has worn on this happy occasion. For a moment you may feel that the sun has disappeared behind the black clouds, but then the sun peeps out at the very next moment bathing the rooftops with sunlight. The drizzles draw a beautiful pattern on the surfaces of the many lakes, and the beauty of the sky is beyond description. The flocks of snow white birds appear to the observer like a cluster of stars which has landed on the earth to enjoy this heavenly month.
The birds are drying their wet feather as somewhere in the deep jungles deers are eating the new tender grass & roaming in the jungles with their young ones. The cattle are happy to have lots of fresh chew. The cowherds flutes are singing their joys. Flowers like the parijat, kevda, and the yellow champak are in full bloom & the air is laden with their fragrance. The women folk have bathed early & have set out to gather these flowers which they will later offer to God as they visit the temples. The beauty of this month can be read on their pleased faces!

Across the city in Bandra itself, in a small middle class home, a son had lost his father. However he did not have time to cry. He needed to find an ambulance which would be ready to drive through the crowded roads. When an ambulance finally agreed to do the job for which they are hired for in the first place, this man had another battle coming his way. He needed to find an empty road. Traffic was diverted as Rajesh Khanna had set out on his final journey.
Death may act as a leveller but the difference between THE STAR and the the common man will always remain…even after they both die!
I have been blogging for the past many years however the main reason I did not open a wordpress blog was because I find its workings too complicated. But today finally I decided to take the plunge and see what wordpress is all about. Hoping to get it right over the time.
And I must admit, I am enjoying some of its features already!
